HNX-Index Rises, Led by US Rally 2009-08-19 - FPTS
The Vietnamese northern stock exchange extended its winning streak to two days as investors pinned high hopes on continued rising trend following positive reports on global economies.
The investor confidence was improved on the rebound in the United States, led by Dow Jones and S&P 500 indexes.
The HNX-Index added 2.54 points, or 1.62%, to close at 158.95, extending its gains in two days 2%.
The today advance extended the year-to-date gains of the measure to 51%, according to FPT Securities. The gauge more than doubled its value from all-time low in February.
Among 219 stocks listed on the northern bourse, 162 stocks advanced, 36 declined, 14 ended unchanged and four were untraded. Three companies debuted their share listings on the northern exchange.
Danang Education Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (DAD) listed 5 million shares which closed at VND15,900 per share on average on a trade of 12,000 shares.
Phuong Nam Education Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (SED) floated 8 million shares which averagely settled at VND20,100 per share on 29,800 shares traded.
PetroVietnam Construction Corporation (PVX) listed 150 million shares on the northern bourse, which finished at VND24,900 per share on average.
PVX led the market liquidity with 5.16 million shares changed hands.
In general, the market trading volume rose 12.2% from a day earlier to 25.1 million shares valued at VND781 billion, up 6%.
Kim Long Securities (KLS) was the second most traded stock with 2.03 million shares, which rose 0.86% to close at VND35,500 per share.
Saigon Hanoi Bank (SHB), the second largest stock by market cap, was the third most traded stock with 1.38 million shares, which climbed 1.3% to VND31,200 per share.
Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), the largest lender on HNX, added 0.43% to settle at VND47,100 on a trade of 1.36 million shares.
Real estate developer Vinaconex (VCG) surged 3.02% to finish at VND30,700 per share with 1.32 million shares transferred.
SDP was the biggest advancer, climbing 7% to close at VND21,400 per share on 24,700 shares changed hands.
DST was the biggest loser, sliding 6.67% to close at VND11,200 per share on a trade of 16,500 shares.
