Vietnam Electricity rises after posting first-half profit gain
Vietnam Electricity Construction Joint-Stock Co., a power-plant builder, on Friday gained in Ho Chi Minh City trading after posting first-half net income of VND51 billion (US$2.9 million), versus a loss of VND11 billion a year earlier.
The shares rose 4.6 percent, to VND15,900, the highest since June 16 on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange. The benchmark VN-Index ended four days of gains, dropping 0.2 percent.
The sale of the Green Plaza Hotel in the central-coastal city of Da Nang helped boost net income in the first six months, Da Nang-based Vietnam Electricity said in a statement to the exchange’s website.
Ben Tre Aqua posts 7-month profit of $1.7 million
Ben Tre Aquaproduct Import & Export Joint-Stock Co., a processor and exporter of seafood, said net profit in the January-July period rose to VND30.7 billion (US$1.7 million).
Ben Tre Aquaproduct’s earnings increased 7.5 percent from the same period a year earlier, the company said in a statement filed to the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange.
Revenue rose to VND283.6 billion, equivalent to about 71 percent of the company’s full-year target, the exchange said. Ben Tre Aquaproduct is based in the southern Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre.
